Davenport does vacation differently from the hotel corridors nearby. People rent whole houses here — four bedrooms, six, sometimes nine — with private pools, game rooms and proper kitchens, and they come as extended families or 2 or 3 households together. The grocery run happens on arrival day. Meals get cooked. Nobody is buying every lunch at a counter.
That style of trip suits us unusually well, and for reasons that are ordinarily a drawback. We have no cafe on the property, only vending machines, which surprises visitors staying in hotels. For a family with a villa kitchen it is simply a reason to make sandwiches before leaving. We keep shaded picnic tables out under the oaks, and lunch eaten there with cattle grazing thirty feet away is one of the better half hours of a Florida week.
The second thing that fits is the group pricing. Between 10 and 19 guests it is $15 a head, and from 20 upward $12 a head with a reservation, plus one free admission for every 20 paid — which matters when three families are visiting together. Standard admission is $18 for anyone 2 and over, under-2s free, and covers the animals, the Tractor-Drawn Wagon Ride and the playground together. We are twenty-five minutes away and there is nothing to book.
Green Meadows started in 1988, when Coni and Bob Keyes opened it on shaded ground in Kissimmee. For nearly thirty years it was where the children of this area met their first cow — through school trips, birthday parties and ordinary weekends when somebody needed everyone outdoors. Then the gates closed, and seven years passed before it came back.
It reopened at Lancaster Ranch Park with the City of Kissimmee’s backing, and the substance survived the move intact. Cattle, alpacas, donkeys, pigs, goats, chickens and rabbits are all within arm’s length rather than penned off at a distance. The wagon ride still makes its way out across the pasture. The oak canopy still keeps the heat honest. More ground than there was, and the same intention behind it.
We are at Lancaster Ranch Park, 1881 Jack Calhoun Drive, Kissimmee, FL 34741, roughly eighteen miles and about twenty-five minutes northeast of Davenport, generally up US-27 and across toward the 192 corridor. Given how much of this stretch of Polk and Osceola County is still ranch land, the drive itself sets the tone.
Check the day first, because our hours are short. Wednesday through Friday we are open 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with Monday and Tuesday closed. Last admission falls at 1:00 PM midweek and at 2:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. There is no evening opening. Arriving near ten gets you the liveliest animals and the most bearable temperature, and leaves your afternoon free for the pool back at the house.
Make the sandwiches before you go. There is no cafe here and the vending machines are not a lunch. Fill a cooler, bring a good deal of water, and use the shaded tables we keep for the purpose. Closed shoes rather than sandals, plus hats and sunscreen for everybody, since the ground is pasture rather than pavement.
Then drive up. Tickets can be bought online in advance or at the gate, with no reservation required for general admission. It is $18 per person from 2 years old, under-2s free, and we take all major credit cards and no cash whatsoever. If your party runs to ten or more, the group rate applies and is worth arranging beforehand. Animal feed is optional, bought at the gate or added to your tickets online, and because that is what the morning actually revolves around.
Plan Your Visit
Fall opens the Pumpkin Zone and the farm fills right up. Worth saying at the outset: this is not a pumpkin patch, and we do not grow pumpkins here. The Zone simply means every paying guest chooses one and carries it home, free with the ticket, with nothing extra charged at the gate. It is open every day we are open through the season rather than on a handful of weekends, which suits families staying nearby for a week or 2. Our Halloween Candy Hunt falls on 2 weekends around Halloween each year.
Birthday parties take very little arranging, and we host a fair number for families staying in the area as well as those who live here. Choose your date and time, then pay in full, and your tent is reserved for your celebration. Tents are $450 covering up to 25 guests, with anyone beyond that at $15 each, and four are available each day on Saturdays and Sundays with tables set out. Everybody invited gets the run of the whole farm, so the animals, the wagon ride and the playground do the entertaining. The decorating and the catering are yours. Do let guests know: pony rides and lettuce for the animals are optional extras, bought at the gate or added to your tickets online, and the day is outdoors throughout.
Group bookings are genuinely worth it if several households are vacationing together, which around Davenport they very often do. From 20 guests upward it is $12 each with a reservation, including a free admission for every 20 paid. Easter Egg Hunts come in spring and other seasonal events appear through the year, all posted on our Special Events page and shared first via Facebook and Instagram. Paying ahead gets a large party through the entrance considerably faster.

We keep shaded picnic tables specifically for it, and eating outdoors with cattle grazing behind you is a genuinely pleasant way to spend half an hour. Bring more water than you expect to need, particularly through the summer.
